Aeonium, also known as the Tree Houseleek, gets its name from the ancient Greek word "aionos", meaning ageless. With its showy fleshy leaves that range from burgundy to light green, and with a glossy or matte appearance rising on thick stems reaching for the light, this plant is truly dynamic and lives up to its name. Most importantly Aeonium is drought tolerant. A native of the Canary Islands and North Africa, their preferred conditions are warm to hot which makes it the perfect addition to a California garden.
